A RARE LARGE CARVED THREE-COLOR LACQUER LOBED VASE
QIANLONG-JIAQING PERIOD (1736-1820)
The impressive vase is of hexalobed, ovoid form with an out-turned, petal-lobed rim. The body is crisply carved through layers of red, green and ochre-yellow lacquer with a continuous design of bats suspending ribbon-tied peaches amidst foliate scroll, all below a geometric band around the broad mid-section interrupted by a pair of gilt-bronze animal masks suspending loose rings, and a broad band of archaistic dragon scroll encircling the shoulder. The waisted neck and foot are carved with further decorative bands, all between key-fret borders around the mouth and foot rims.
