A rare late 19th-Century lacquered-brass saccharimètre soleil,
engraved SACCHARIMÈTRE - SOLEIL PERFNÆ Mon Jules Duboscq Ph. Pellin Paris numbered 1535, the polarising and viewing scopes mounted at either end of an empty space in which can be rested one of the three brass analysing tubes, the viewing scope with a fine ivorine vernier scale with tangent screw and micrometer fine adjustment, the cross bar attached via a compass joint with screw clamp atop an extension tube within a brass column with three grey enamelled inswept feet, contained with the three analysing tubes in a pine box, with a copy of the Pellin catalogue describing the instrument and advertising accessories -- 54.4cm.
