A rare Steiff Roly Poly Teddy Bear
with blonde mohair, black boot button eyes, pronounced muzzle, remains of black stitched nose, mouth and four claws, swivel head, jointed limbs and bulbous weighted body --6¼in. (16.5cm.) high, circa 1910 (general wear, lower neck disc needs reattaching, balding to left arm and left ear resewn)

Lot Essay

These Roly Poly toys were introduced in the 1909 catalogue as 'Toys for Tiny Tots'. The series included Farmer Dach, Golliwog, Cowboy, Clown Cloo, Cat and Rabbit. The bear was available in four sizes 7, 8, 10 and 14 inches.
