INCISED QIANLONG FOUR CHARACTER MARK WITHIN A SQUARE AND OF THE PERIOD
The bubble-suffused clear glass coupe of compressed globular shape carved in rich ruby-red glass overlay with a peony scroll framed by a lotus lappet border around the base and ruyi lappets around the lipped rim, together with a gilt bronze spoon with an arched handle

Lot Essay

A similar example carved with ducks and lotus leaves from the City Art Gallery, Bristol, is illustrated in the O.C.S., Transactions of the Oriental Ceramic Society, 1963-64, no. 322. A slightly larger related example decorated with dragons on a snowstorm ground from the Jingguantang Collection, was sold in these Rooms, 3 November 1996, lot 507.
