Lot Essay

Design details of this card table bear out Vollmer's collaboration with Josef Hoffman and Otto Prutscher. An article on Hoffman in Das Interieur, (Vol.I, 1900 p.138), illustrates metal mounted feet and describes the metal mounts as being by Hans Vollmer. On page 151 of the same volume a bureau designed by Vollmer and Prutscher is illustrated with the same ridged motif used in the legs of the card table.
