Decorated in première and contre partie, the hinged lid centred by a foliate and strapwork medallion surrounded by scrolling foliage, revealing a silk-lined interior with a secret compartment in the quilted lining to the lid, originally fitted with an additional tray, the lock stamped 'BRAMAH' beneath a crown
