Handley & Moore, London. First quarter 19th century
The case with brass handle rising from a brass-lined pad on the breakarch top, with foliate scroll pierced sound frets backed with green silk to the sides, conforming quarter frets to the front, with brass stop-fluted chamfered front angles, bone shield-shaped escutcheon, glazed rear door, on stepped and moulded base and raised on brass bracket feet, the white painted circular Roman dial signed Handley & Moore LONDON (signature retouched), with blued steel spade hands, the twin chain fusee movement with anchor escapement and strike on bell, pendulum holdfast to a backplate with engraved borders, with conforming engraving to the movement securing brackets; with original brass winding key stamped H. MOORE LONDON
