A ROMAN MARBLE FIGURE OF APOLLO
circa late 1st-early 2nd century a.d.
The youthful god depicted nude, in contrapposto, his hip thrust to his left, standing with his weight on his left leg, the right leg relaxed and slightly advanced, a serene expression on his face, with a thick laurel wreath in his center-parted hair which is knotted in back, with long tendrils falling on to each shoulder, the support in the form of a rectangular pillar upon which rests the god's kithara, on an oval integral plinth
