A Samson famille rose jardiniere, second half 19th century
the tall rounded sides decorated with scenes of a pheasant perched on a gnarled branch bearing chrysanthemum and peony blossoms flanked by applied lion mask handles, rising to the flat lipped rim enamelled with cartouches enclosing pairs of fish reserved on diaper grounds, supported on a splayed foot with floral sprays on a blue ground -- 12 7/16in. (31.6cm.) diam.; and a Samson famille rose square-sectioned bottle vase and cover, the body and neck with foliate floral scrolls on a lime green ground framing the pink ground shoulder and with metal mounts, the domed cover with a Buddhistic lion finial -- overall 13 3/16in. (33.4cm.) high. (2)
