Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Heyford Pringle, O.B.E., was born in August 1870 and gazetted to the Border Regiment from the Militia as a 2nd Lieutenant in October 1892. Advanced to Lieutenant in January 1896, he participated in the Waziristan operations of 1894-95 with the 2nd Battalion, afterwards transferring to the Army Pay Corps. Pringle was placed on the Retired List as a Lieutenant-Colonel in February 1920, shortly after his participation in the North Russia operations.
