The dark blue-ground reserved with landscape and gallant scenes within scrolled cartouches, comprising: a quadruped clock or cartel, with clock mechanism, the clock face inscribed Leroy H=ger above du Roy, 41.5 cm. high; a pair of quadruped pedestal urn vases and covers en suite, 39 cm. high (one cover restored, one foot with two chips) (5)
Provenance
Queen Marie Henriette of the Belgians donated the clock garniture to doctor Damseaux, who was lord mayor of Spa from 1894 till 1901.
By descent to the present owner.

Lot Essay

Marie Henriette von Habsburg-Lothringen, archduchess of Austria, lived from 1836 till 1902 and died in Spa. She married crown prince Leopold II of the Belgians in 1853 and they were crowned king and queen in 1865. They had four children: Louise-Marie, Leopold, Stephanie and Clementine.
