Edo period (17th century), with cutting test attestation Yamano Kaemon, dated Kanbun ju kanoeinu nen nigatsu toka (1670.2.10), signed Terao Shin'emon and with kao (cursive monogram) in gold inlay
The wide blade of shinogi-zukuri configuration with iori-mune back, saki-zori curvature and chu-gissaki point, both sides carved with Buddhist ken and inscribed Shingai muyoho Kasuga daimyojin Kunitsugu kiru kore and Banryu tada isshin Hachiman daibosatsu Kunitsugu kiru kore; forged with a ko-itame pattern and notare gunome midare tempered edge with a small, rounded tip; tang unshortened with sujikai file marks and two peg holes; in wood storage scabbard
