A SILVER-MOUNTED BOXWOOD SNUFF BOTTLE
apparently unmarked, probably Germany, 17th Century

On a plain rising foot and with putto finial, the body carved in relief with Paris and a companion awarding the golden apple to Venus, Juno and Minerva looking on in anger, the two male figures amusingly wearing contemporary Western costume, the three goddesses all naked, the lower part of the body with foliate-engraved mount - 9cm high
