Lot Essay

The inscription apparently relates to Sergei Alexandrovich Lentovskii (1858-?), Doctor of the Equipage of the Guard (Gvarddeiskii Ekipazh).

For a similar ship-form kovsh, see Christie's, South Kensington, 26 June 2007, lot 121.
