Lot Essay

This German art pewterer, commonly known as WMF, took classic Art Nouveau elements such as women with flowing hair, naturalistic forms and sinuous lines and commisioned the leading artists of the day to produce designs which could be adapted to commercial forms, thereby making it a champion of the marriage of art and industry.
