KANGXI MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD

The interior incised with a sinuous dragon pursuing a flaming pearl, with further dragons at a similar pursuit on the exterior below the lipped rim, covered overall with a thin glaze of pale lemon yellow tone--5½in. (14cm.) diam., box

A slightly larger yellow-glazed dish from the Elphinstone Collection is illustrated in the Percival David Foundation Catalogue, Section 6, no. A590. A similar dish of larger size (6¾in. diam.), from a Far Eastern Collection, was sold in these rooms December 2, 1986, lot 230
