A SMALL-SWORD WITH PIERCED CUT-STEEL HILT
LATE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY
With slender blade of hollow triangular section with etched ornament and retaining traces of original gilding at the forte, steel hilt comprising oval guard cut with roundels in imitation of large brilliants, the quillon-block and knuckle-guard en suite, grip bound with wire and ribbon, and with Turk's heads, and plummet-shaped faceted pommel; together with A FRENCH SMALL-SWORD, late 18th century, with blade of hollow triangular section, steel hilt pierced with tendrils and foliage throughout including double shell-guard, quillon-block, knuckle-guard and globular pommel, the grip bound with silver wire and ribbon, and with Turk's heads
