A SOUTH ITALIAN RED-FIGURE ASKOS
LATE 4TH CENTURY B.C.
Decorated with the profile head of a female wearing elaborate sakkos, palmette and scrolling trendrils behind, 7 in. (18 cm.) high; a Gnathia ware oinochoe decorated in applied white, yellow and red with bands of grape clusters, scrolling tendrils and tongues, 10½ in. (27 cm.) high; another similar, smaller, with decoration now worn, 7¾ in. (19.5 cm.) high; and a Gnathia ware amphora decorated in white with bands of rosettes and grape leaves, 8¼ in. (21 cm.) high, all late 4th Century B.C. (4)

Collection of an Austrian noble family, acquired 1750-1780.
