The scrolled seahorse feet on this commode are characteristic of the best examples of Mallorcan Empire furniture. Related commodes resting on similar mythical beast supports after designs by Adrián Ferrán were sold from Ca'n Puig Y Castillo de Bendinat, Mallorca, Christie's, 24-25 May, 1999, lot 197 and are also illustrated in L. Feduchi, El Meuble Español, Barcelona, 1969, fig. 231, p. 242. A further commode with similar supports in the manner of Ferrán was sold from the Manolo March collection, Christie's, London, 28-29 October 2009, lot 361. Another related commode attributed to Ferrán is llustrated in J. Massot, 'Ramis d'Ayreflor,' El Moble a les Illes Balears Segles XIII-XIX, Barcelona, 1995, p. 191.
