Lot Essay

The fine, deep carving of this table screen is similar in style to that found on other table screens of Qianlong date, such as the rectangular screen reputed to be from the Summer Palace, Beijing, in the collection of Mr. R. Bruce, London, illustrated by L. Ashton and B. Gray, Chinese Art, London, 1953 edition, p. 342, pl. 136.
