The first modeled as a a gentleman playing pipes, his companion playing the lute, seated on a stepped hill with sheep; the infamous Red Barn with open door and shaped plinth; together with a later bull baiting group, the base inscribed BULL BEATING/NOW CAPTIN LAD

Lot Essay

Though sublimely innocent looking, the Red Barn was the infamous site where William Corder murdered his fiancé Maria Marten and hid her under the floorboards.
