The kawari kabuto a three-plate Hineno-style helmet fitted with a broad peak laquered russet and embossed with eyebrows and furrowed brow, the top of the helmet covered with a mane of short brown animal fur, the five-lame neck guard of solid plates lacquered gold and laced kebiki (close lacing) in dark blue and orange lacing, the top lame with small fukigaeshi (turnbacks), the maedate (forecrest) a gilt-wood demon, the face mask with a moustache, chin tuft and gilt teeth, the four-lame yodarekake (neck guard) lacquered gold and close-laced in dark blue and orange; the armor lacquered russet with the ni-mai tachi do (two-plate cuirass) kiritsuke iyozane (false scales) with dark blue spaced-lacing, the lower plates gold-lacquered false lamellae with close-laced orange lacing, and with two shoulder strap covers decorated in printed leather and with gilt-metal chrysanthemum family crests, the six-section tassets of gold-lacquered false lamellae construction with close-laced blue and orange lacing, the cuirass fitted with a bracket at the back for a flag; the chu-sode (medium shoulder guards) gold-lacquered false lamellae close-laced in dark blue and orange lacing; the sleeves black-lacquered iron mail oda gote (sleeves with iron plates), russet-lacquered leather iyo haidate (thigh guards); shino suneate (splint shin guards); with fan and a wood storage box
