A SWISS DOUBLE-HINGED TWO-COLOUR GOLD SNUFF-BOX
Geneva, circa 1780, with prestige marks
Bathtub-shaped box (boîte-en-baignoire), the cover with two hinges to open the box from the front and from the rear, the lid, sides and base with panels of peaked engine-turning simulating a reptile's skin, the frosted borders chased in two-colour gold with a trailing ribbon with rosebuds and foliage, the four side pilasters similarly chased with classical vases, the base of the sides with husk border
