For the Oriental market, shaped oval, the base with cartouche shaped panel of painted flowers on red translucent ground, the base, sides and hinged cover with borders of pink, green, white and blue enamel with gold scrolls, the hinged cover with shaped oblong painted enamel harbor scene against an opalescent sky with dentilated gold border, the painted panel opening to reveal a Louis I gold ecu behind glazed panel with border of painted floral bouquets on a blue ground, apparently unmarked

The coin is an ecu d'or of Louis I (1382-1384), with reverse visible and cross in enclosure (see Friedberg, Gold Coins of the World, New York, 1976, 5th ed., no. 547)
