A Tibetan thang.ka depicting Buddha Sakyamuni

Buddha Sakyamuni is seated in vajrasana on a lotus pericarp placed on a throne, his right hand is in bhumisparsamudra, the left resting on his lap, wearing patchwork cloak, body and head halo behind, flanked by his main disciples Sariputra and Maudgalyayana and surrounded by the thirty-five Buddha's of the Past, most of them with their names inscribed and at the lower register various protective deities including Simhavaktra and a form of Mahakala, in cotton mounting
