A UNIQUE PAIR OF BLACK BELLIED PLOVER
Charles 'Shang' Wheeler, Stratford, Connecticut, Circa 1940
Decoratives in spring and fall plumage, with metal legs; in naturalistic setting of sand and simulated marsh grasses.
These bird vignettes were made circa 1940 and were shown at the National Sportsmans Show in New York City in 1949; nine such pairs are illustrated in Shang by Dixon Merkt, p. 28, pl. 21
Very good condition; wing tip of one bird broken off
