The first of regulation pattern, in original brass-mounted leather scabbard, the locket engraved 'PRESENTED TO LT. JAMES RILEY 5TH REGT. CORCORAN'S LEGION BY A FEW BUTCHER FRIENDS NEW YORK NOV. 8TH 1862'; the second of regulation pattern, with etched blade by 'W. CLAUBERG SOLINGEN' and named 'W.S. SAMPLE. U.S.N.', shagreen-covered grip, bullion sword knot, and original brass-mounted black leather scabbard, the epaulettes and insignia each with bullion thread, contained in original tin
