A VERY LARGE AND RARE POLYCHROME CIZHOU KIDNEY-SHAPED PILLOW
Jin dynasty (1115-1234)
Elegantly curved with a slightly concave upper surface, the decoration incised through the slip and glazed in amber, green, and cream to depict a hexagonal enclosure bearing geometric and foliate designs surrounded by an abstract wave pattern, multiple line and foliate borders, the glaze stopping halfway down the sides with the base unglazed, chipped and cracked
