A VERY RARE FAMILLE ROSE FIGURE OF A LAMA
QIANLONG PERIOD, DATED BY INSCRIPTION TO 1782
The figure is seated in dhyanasana on a waisted lotus base with his right hand raised in vitarkamudra, and his left hand lowered in his lap holding a tablet. He wears loose, flowing robes and a tall hood decorated with floral scrolls, which ends above the nape of the neck to show his white-enameled hair. The base is inscribed in gold with a lengthy inscription in both Chinese and Manchu, which dates the piece to the 47th year of Qianlong.
