The case in the style of Thomas Cole, finely engraved with formalised strap-work and flowerheads amongst foliate scrolls, typical ring handle to the top and foliate engraved pilasters to the sides, easel stand to the reverse with foliate engraved winding handle, shuttered hand-set and regulation apertures, date-set square to bottom left, the backplate stamped W.V. for Wilhelm Vasel, the elaborately engraved silvered dial with Roman chapters and delicate blued steel hands, subsidiary rings below for day of week and calendar and signed by the retailer at the base London and Ryder 17. New Bond Street W, the full plate movement with large going barrel and vertically positioned gilt lever platform with over-coiled blued hair spring to cut bimetallic compensated balance, the inside of the rear cover stamped W.Vasel, London; with the original gilt-tooled green leather travelling case with green velvet and cream silk-lined interior
