The case with breakarch top with stepped pediment surmounted by a pineapple finial, further finials to the corners, with arched foliate cast sound frets to the sides, foliate cut-brass inlay to the front, gilt-brass Corinthian columns flanking the door above ripple-moulded waist, the inverted breakfront base on large brass-capped toupie feet, the brass dial with gilt-brass cherub mask spandrels to the silvered Roman chapter ring, matted centre and pierced steel hands, with subsidiary rings to the arch for chime/silent, slow/fast and Cambridge/Westminster, the susbstantial triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, chiming on eight bells with hour strike on gong; with a mahogany pedestal, the rectangular top above a panelled trunk with fluted and chamfered angles; probably associated
