The octagonal top inlaid with interlaced parquetry and with leaf-carved edge, on a base carved with tracery, bubbling seaweed and spiral fluting

Lot Essay

This table relates closely to the output of Julius Yacoby, who was listed in Kelly's Post Office Directory, 1877 as an 'Art Furniture Manufacturer, Cabinet Maker, Specialist for Carved Oak Furniture, Retail Cabinet Seller, Church Fitting and Furniture Manufacturer, Interior Decorator, Parquet Flooring Manufacturer and Upholsterer'. A table stamped by Yacoby was sold Christie's South Kensington, 17 February 2008, lot 79 and had provenance from Strawberry Hill, Twickenham. A chair by Yacoby is in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
