A Vienna topographical gold-ground cabinet-plate
Circa 1816, blue shield mark and impressed 17 date code 816, incised 4
Painted with a view named on the reverse in black script Vue du palais J.R. du Rempart et de la Terrasse de l'Impératrice, à Vienne., with soldiers, ladies and gentlemen promenading in the foreground, within a rectangular gilt cartouche with canted corners and a ciselé garland of ivy, the border edged with a band of ciselé foliage vitruvian scrolls between ciselé bands (areas of wear to cartouche and edge of well, some minute scratches to enamels of sky, other minute areas of wear)
9 5/8 in. (24.5 cm.) diam.
