Lot Essay

For a tureen of the same form in the Oesterreichisches Museum für Angewandete, Vienna (Inv. no. Ke.2496) with closely related but slightly different decoration, see J.F. Hayward, Viennese Porcelain of the du Paquier Period (London, 1952), pl. 52d, and p. 212, where he points out that the other similar service is the Russian Imperial Service. For a Russian Imperial Service tureen, see pl. 50a and also Elisabeth Sturm-Bednarczyk, Claudius Innocentius du Paquier, Wiener Porzellan der Frühzeit 1718-1744 (Vienna, 1994), p. 66, no. 55; and also Robert Schmidt, op. cit. (Munich, 1953), pl. 22, no. 71.
