A well engineered 1in:1ft scale model of the Murdoch-Aitken single cylinder steeple engine of 1840 built by R.Draper. Measurements overall -- 19½ x 13½in (49.5 x 34.3cm)
With cylinder 1 1/8in bore x 2¾in stroke, barrelled side rods with bolted big and little ends, faceted crank, skew gear driven governor, lagged main steam line, spoked flywheel and square output drive, mounted on fluted columns with decorative pierced side frames and twin tapered lower columns. Finished in brown, black and polished brightwork on black and white tiled floor
