A well engineered 4in. scale model of a Foster single cylinder, two speed, four shaft general purpose traction engine built by E. Lindsay -- 45 x 73in. (114 x 186cm)
With welded steel boiler fitted with expanded in copper tubes built under Cornhill Insurance Co. supervision, hydraulic tested to 225psi and stamped, with fittings including bridged wash-out door, twin three -cock water gauges, pressure gauge, safety, whistle, water lift, injector and clack valves and washout plugs. Engine details include cylinder 2 5/8in. bore x 4¼in. stroke, studded stuffing boxes, footplate controlled draincocks, ratchet operated lubricator, Stephenson's link reverse, bolted and wedged big end, eccentric driven feed pump and by-pass, two road speeds and spoked flywheel. Chassis details include spoked, straked wheels with brass hubcaps and bonded extruded rubber tyres, worm and roller chain steering, spudpan, footplate controlled damper, cable drum, cable and fairleads, band brake to fourth shaft, water lifter and suction hose with rose, whistle, steps, footboard and other details. Finished in maroon with yellow lining and polished brightwork.
