A well engineered 6in:1ft scale model of a single hopper cooled cylinder A.E. & H. Robinson & Co. Type X open crank gas engine of circa 1890 built by J. Marshall. Measurements overall -- 10½ x 17in. (26.5 x 43 cm)
With water jacketed cylinder 1½in. bore x 1½in. stroke, drip type cylinder lubricator, hot tube ignition, suction inlet and eccentric driven exhaust valves, pilot and main gas jets, silencer, belt pulley and spoked flywheel. Finished in green and polished brightwork on varnished wood display base
This type of engine was used by A.E. & H. Robinson & Co. to drive catering equipment they also manufactured; they became known as the "Chippie Engine".
