                                            A WESTERN ASIATIC GRANITE HEAD OF A LION 
circa 8th-7th century b.c.
The face well-modeled, with incised bifoliate ears high toward the back of the head, the brows curled back from the nose as far as the ears, the wide almond-shaped eyes with articulated lids, with high cheek bones and a long feline muzzle, the wide nose on top, with whiskers incised, the mane radiating into raised triangular rays
