Lot Essay

The present relief is a reproduction of Andrea Della Robbia's Madonna with Nude, Standing Child dating to the late 15th century which is housed in the Piazza dell' Unità, Florence (A. Marquand, Andrea Della Robbia and His Atelier, New York, 1972, I, no. 87, fig. 97).
