A WHITE JADE MUGHAL-STYLE BOWL
18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY

The bowl has gently rounded sides finely carved with numerous vertical lobes radiating from a central chrysanthemum medallion on the interior, repeated on the exterior where the concentric ribs are raised at the tips to form a ring foot, the thin white walls of good translucency (small rim chips)
4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) diam., stand, box

Lot Essay

A Mughal-style tray in the form of a leaf with veins carved in a similar way to the bowl, is illustrated by A. Forsyth and B. McElney, Jades From China, 1994, pl. 351.
