The case of good proportions with typical heavily cast gilt-metal handle to the cushion moulded top, later foliate pierced wood sound frets to the front door and sides, the dial signed Dan. Quare, London on the silvered chapter ring with sword hilt half hour markers, pierced blued steel hands, mock pendulum aperture to the finely matted centre, crown-and-sceptre spandrels, foliate engraving to the arch with silvered calendar ring, the massive six ringed pillar movement with twin gut fusees, re-built verge escapement, pull quarter repeat on six bells via six hammers and hour and half hour strike on a further bell, the similarly signed backplate profusely engraved with flower heads and scolling foliage, the upper section inhabited with two facing masks, backplate securing brackets to the case; later purpose-made wall bracket
