Inlaid overall with shaped panels with floral sprays and birds, the case with rectangular plinth on bracket feet, the rectangular trunk door with plain circular lenticle, the dial with brass chapter ring with Roman chapters and Arabic numerals, the centre engraved with a village scene and inscribed Grabt. Smith/CHESTER within a cartouche below, subsidiary seconds ring and date aperture, with pierced black-painted hands, the weight-driven movement with anchor escapement striking on on bell above, the stepped rectangular hood with spirally-turned angles and glazed sides, weight lacking, the hand of the seconds ring missing, the movement and dial later
