NORTHERN SONG/JIN DYNASTY, 12TH-13TH CENTURY
The shallow rounded sides encircled on the exterior by a single incised line, the center of the interior deftly carved and combed with a bold design of turbulent waves, covered overall with an attractive olive-green glaze, the unglazed base with recessed center burnt brown in the firing

Compare the Yaozhou celadon dish carved with a very similar wave design illustrated by R. Krahl, Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, vol. 1, London, 1994, p. 233, no. 420, and another similar example illustrated in The Masterpieces of Yaozhou Ware, Tokyo, 1997, p. 36, no. 41.
