Malik bin Anas, Imam of the madhhab of the Malikis, one of the four orthodox schools of Islamic law spent his life in Medina studying and preserving the hadith, collated in his monumental work al-Muwatta'. It is a well known work of fiqh and hadith. Malikism was introduced into Muslim Spain as early as the end of the AH 2nd/8th AD century by Andalusian scholars.
