Chapman (presentation inscription from Adam, bookplate, letters from Adam, Robert Metzdorf laid-in); Alan G. Thomas (bookplate, his sale, Sotheby's London, 21 June 1993, lot 296.)

PRESENTATION COPY TO R.W. CHAPMAN, inscribed on the flyleaf in vol. I: "To R.W. Chapman with the sincere and affectionate regard of R.W. Adams, Septr. 9.1929." Vols. I-III were limited to 500 copies, Vol. IV to 225 copies. Adams' remarkable collection was purchased by Donald and Mary Hyde in 1948. It subsequently was bequeathed to the Houghton Library at Harvard in 2004. (4)
