Lot Essay

We are grateful to Professor Daniele Benati for confirming the attribution on the basis of photographs. He regards it as an autograph replica of the picture in the Pinacoteca Nationale, Bologna (see D. Benati, Alessandro Tiarini. L'opera pittorica completa e i disegni, Milan, 2001, II, no. 212, pp. 132-3) and dates the present work to the 1630s.
