A young Russian General, in red-piped black uniform with silver buttons and epaulettes, silver embroidered bands on high-standing collar, wearing the Imperial Russian medal for the Turkish campaign 1828-1829, suspended from the ribbon of St George, fair hair; draped red curtain and sky background
signed and dated 'Rockstuhl 1831' (mid-right)
on ivory
octagonal, 1 9/16 x 1¼ in. (39 x 31 mm.), gold mount set into gold bracelet frame with vari-colour gold surround decorated with flowers and foliage, nine-stranded strap set with untested pearls, gold mounts, the clasp set with turquoise
