AN 18TH CENTURY RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER SNUFF BOX,
TOWN MARK ONLY, MOSCOW, CIRCA 1780,
Circular with bead borders & pull-off cover, the latter set with large gilt medallion depicting Empress Catherine II in profile to sinister, the surfaces engine-turned with overlapping scale motifs, the base engraved with military trophies, town mark inside cover & repeated inside base, gilt interior, 3¾ in. diameter (9.7 cm.), 7.25 oz.
