Post lot text
Born César Baldaccini, originally a sculptor, César incorporated discarded industrial scrap metal into his works, condensing them into compact and colourful squares. Such ideas would evolve into his vision for jewellery. By 1971, he created his Jewellery Compressions when an acquaintance brought in a box of jewellery and had him compress its entire contents into a pendant.
