AN AMERICAN SILVER PRESENTATION CAKE PLATE Mark of Bigelow, Kennard & Co., Boston, circa 1938 Circular, with plain reeded border, the center engraved with the crest of the Fly Club (Alpha Delta Phi Club), a leopard rampant guardant, and monogram JAR and ALC, marked on reverse 13½in. (34.3cm.) diameter; 32oz. (998gr.)
Provenance
The monograms are those of John Aspinwall Roosevelt and Anne Lindsay Clark, who married in June 1938. The cake plate was given to them as a wedding present by members of the Fly Club, Harvard University, Class of 1938.
